21 Nov Cheat Meals
A cheat meal is the term to describe the one meal a week a person can go crazy and eat whatever and however much they desire. The trick is to stop there and then to revert back to healthy and fresh eating. For those of us who have little or no willpower this is a pretty mean feat!
Many bodybuilders or fitness models eat this way and look at their bodies! But is this way of eating realistic long term?
The science behind it in laymen’s terms is that the short and sudden increase in calories actually kick start the metabolism (sort of like interval training at bootcamp). I know of a couple of people who embarked on this eating regime and swear by it. I also know of a few (or more) who find it way too hard mentally. Having to wait an entire week to splurge is too much to endure and they either cave in and go berserk or just resort back to eating something a little bit decadent a few times a week.
I have tried it and the end result wasn’t pretty! I felt sick, bloated, tired and depressed! Needless to say I didn’t last very long on this ‘regime’ and reverted back to my ‘everything in moderation’.
Have you ever tried a cheat meal? How did it work for you?
